Bound & Broken

Bound & Broken
Life moves fast, they always say,
but who decides what’s right, anyway?
I gave what I could, tried to hold tight,
yet here we are—out of sight, out of spite.
No trust left, no words to mend,
just faded photos and “remember when’s.”
Too much time, too much pride,
too many things I let slide.
I thought we’d shield, protect, defend,
that this bond would never bend.
A kindred soul should just know how,
but here we stand—estranged somehow.
The moon to my sun, the thread to my seam,
hand in hand… or so it seemed.
But now it’s all rules, a one-sided reign,
nothing I say can rewrite your pain.
You read my words, but they’re for me—
a place to heal, to finally breathe.
If you knew the ache, the hollow inside,
would it crack that stubborn pride?
I see you there, locked up tight,
trapped in the cage of curated light.
But I don’t judge—I understand.
I carry the weight, I bear the brand.
We weren’t made to cut this deep,
to break, to bury, to barely speak.
We were infinite, strong, unshaken—
but now this bond feels half-forsaken.
No back to turn, no dial tone,
no whispered word to feel alone.
I don’t call names, don’t cast stones,
but I can’t fix what you won’t own.
Maybe we were never bound that tight,
maybe this thread was never right.
We share a past, a woven truth,
a childhood carved in fireproof.
And yet, we vanish, fade, pretend,
replace each other with new best friends.
But no fresh face can rewrite the past,
or steal the echoes built to last.
Still, it wasn’t enough to make you stay,
wasn’t enough to clear the way.
So here we go—one last divide,
you walk your path, I’ll walk mine.
We can live like strangers, rewrite the past,
ignore the weight, make silence last.
No forced apologies, no bitter cries—
just two names fading from our lives.
And if the world pulls us back someday,
if duty calls or memories fray?
Then we’ll return—not just for love or for grace,
but for what life demands we face.
Because like it or not, that’s how it’s been.
We weren’t just close—we were built in.
