Portrait of Skelly, the writer behind fabricthatmademe

I’m Skelly! A writer, observer, researcher, and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

fabricthatmademe is a place for reflection, curiosity, and faith. It’s a journey through wonder and The Word. It’s where I write about life as it unfolds, not only in my personal and the everyday life, but also in history, symbolism, forgotten stories, and questions that linger beneath the surface.

Some reflections are drawn from my own life, such as marriage, family, faith, loss, healing, and the long work of becoming safe in one skin. Others follow threads of wonder: architecture that feels symbolic, moments in history that seem unfinished, ideas that echo with meaning, or stories that invite deeper questions about truth. Wherever the writing begins, it always leads back to the same pursuit… what is true, what endures, and where God is present within it all.

This is not a place for spectacle or trend-driven storytelling. It is a space for thoughtful connection and for sharing my writing with those who care to read it. Some pieces are quiet and devotional. Others are investigative, reflective, or curious by nature. All of them are written slowly, with care, reverence for truth, and love.

Some stories shared here are mine, drawn from my own life. Others are written by me on behalf of others, told gently and thoughtfully, with their dignity protected. What matters most is not exposure, but testimony. It’s the kind of truth that meets us quietly, invites us to sit with it, and over time, softens what has been hardened. In that stillness, hearts are softened, wounds are tended, and renewal begins. We are made new!

A hand is writing in a notebook on a bus or train, with a focus on the blue lined pages and torn jeans.

Over time, I’ve returned to old writings, archived what needed some fresh air, and republished what still carried breath. Some words remained simple. Others were reshaped, rewritten, or reborn. Much like me!

Each piece here ends with Woven in the Fabric. This is a closing thread that gathers faith, lived experience, and reflection together and a place to connect.

fabricthatmademe is not a polished version of life.
It is a faith lived one. Full of real-life messed up and love.

If you’ve found your way here carrying questions, responsibilities, a restless curiosity, or struggles…. you’re welcome here. This space is meant to be returned to, not rushed through. I hope you stay awhile!
