Introduction-
I originally wrote this poem in 2019 and republished it again in 2023. So, I wondered—would sharing it one more time feel like overkill? But then again… how many times have you re-read a poem, a riddle, a passage, or a story that just stuck with you? We all have those few pieces that call us back. I guess this is one of mine.
As I round the corner toward the finish line of publishing all my writings here on WordPress, I’ve come across a few that I’ve already shared. And I can see why. They’ve made me pause and reflect—what headspace was I in when I wrote this? What was happening in my life at the time?
I’ve always tried to stay grounded in faith, letting God lead the way—but I’m still human. I go off the rails sometimes. I can be a little too sad, a little too self-sufficient. My good-natured spirit either shows up in bold, all-caps energy—or shrinks down to something meeker than necessary. And yes, I get all up in my feelings. I see that in my words as I flip through the years.
But at my core, I’ve always been both: bold and soft. The fighter and the protector—but also deeply sensitive and empathetic. Light and shadow. Swirls of contradiction that, together, create something only God could design.
That’s why I had to share Essence of Her again. It pulls together all the feelings, the titles I carry, the misconceptions, the mistakes, the “too much” and “not enough.” I hope you enjoy it.
Only a few more post to go!

Essence of Her
She is the strength of the mountaintops and the softness of rolling hills.
She is as fierce as a lightning bolt slicing through a summer storm, yet as gentle as dewdrops resting on spring’s first bloom.
She is untamed—like an unscripted river carving its own path—yet as serene as still waters reflecting the splendor of sunrise.
She stretches beyond limits, touching everything, like the ocean reshaping the shore. Yet, she doubts herself, as if she were invisible—like the very air we breathe.
But that’s just it.
She is the air—the scent that soothes, the breath that gives life.
She is a mother.
She is all.
