In the spring of 2019, I wrote the original version of this poem. It was a quiet reflection of needing space. I needed stillness and time to process the weight of my emotions. It was a season of transition. Words felt tangled. My thoughts swirled like petals caught in the wind. As I reshaped it into a concrete poem, its form became just as meaningful as its words. The shape mirrors renewal—whether as a crescent moon, symbolizing rest and retreat, or a rising sun, signifying hope and restoration. Just as spring breathes new life into the world, this poem evolves today as I share again today. It embraces both solitude and the promise of brighter days ahead. I hope you enjoy it! SK
Piece By Peace
I need my own space today.
This weight behind my eyes must fade.
My heart is heavy, my soul feels torn,
But I know I am held—I am not alone.
My words are tangled, my mind is swirled,
Today, I release and trust the Lord.
Let me be still, let me be quiet,
I need this time to seek and find it.
Let me rest, let me pray,
I will rise again—grace lights the way.
