Write about your first name: its meaning, significance, etymology, etc.
My parents initially thought of naming me Wendy. As the story goes, somewhere along the way, they had a change of heart. I was given the name Sarah Louise. I must admit, I had a deep dislike for my middle name, considering it sounded like an ‘old person’ name. Yet, with time, I found myself growing fond of it—perhaps I matured, into the old person, and the name finally fit me.
My name, Sarah, carries biblical roots, signifying ‘princess warrior,’ a revelation I recently stumbled upon—quite interesting! As for my middle name, its lineage traces back through my mom, grandma, and great-grandma. However, after me, I decided to halt that madness! It ended with me!
I’ve held onto my maiden name, and it’s the name I go by at work. Despite having all sisters, relinquishing it never appealed to me. Interestingly, in my current life, hardly anyone refers to me by my maiden name. ‘In the streets,’ I’m recognized by my married name, Kelly, while those closest to me affectionately call me Skelly—also the chosen pen name for this blog.🤍
I believe using my maiden name reflects the authenticity of who I am today still in some ways—someone transformed after enduring life’s challenges. The person I’ve become is quite different from the one many might remember. Through all the hardships, I’m truly not the same- I’m grateful for it.
Maybe there’s some kind of meaning in my name for all I’ve gone through and the overcoming of who I am now? Hmm … 🤔🤍
