Thanksgiving Day 🍂

Today is Thanksgiving Day 2021, and I’m in Tennessee spending time with my parents. The town here is so peaceful and beautiful—a perfect backdrop for fall. The colors, the old barns and farmhouses, and the Christmas décor lining every road are wonderful. They all bring out the spirit of the holidays in me.

Oh, the country back roads… The fallen leaves covering the roads and filling the ditches. As we drive through these winding paths, it feels as if the sky is raining autumn colors. Leaves are tumbling, flying, and whirling all around us. It’s a breathtaking sight. Nothing sets the mood for the holidays quite like the scenery here.

The storybook homes, the big old red-and-white barns, and the faded picket-fenced farms create a picturesque scene. Dairy cows, horses, and donkeys graze on tall grasses in shades of brown, green, and gold. It’s truly a beautiful place. The people here are good, old-fashioned folks with kind hearts. What a homey, cozy place to call home.

I am thankful for the givers. This morning, I did a devotion with my good friend Katie K. It reminded me that I have so many incredible things to be grateful for. Yet, I am ultimately most thankful for God. He is the one who has given me life, my Savior!

Over the past week, I’ve shared all the things in my life that bring me joy, the blessings I cherish. But I may have overlooked the most important part—admiration for the Giver Himself. The One who makes these joys possible.

May we never forget the people in our lives who give us companionship, love, and care. The ones who offer their time and effort, who stand by us in our times of need—the hard times, the darker moments. The ones who build us up and support us.

Let’s also appreciate those who make us laugh, who cheer us up and cheer us on! The ones we celebrate with and share the ordinary moments of life. We need to thank the heavens for these people!

Would we have anything at all without the friends and family we’ve been blessed with? Sure, there are some not-so-great people in our lives, too. So, pray for the toxic ones to find their way out, and trust that they will. In the meantime, praise God and be thankful for all the supportive, odd, funny, quirky, lovely, and inspiring people in your life. The givers make life worth it!

And let’s be givers too—but hey… have limits! 😉

For this post, I’m sharing a few pictures from our small gathering here in Tennessee. Enjoy!

Now, let’s affirm all the things we are thankful for! 💗

Today was a relaxing day. It wasn’t too rushed or loud. It wasn’t over the top or overdone. It was simple, easy, and perfectly done—just the way I like it. I know Christmas will be different, much more of a production, but this was nice, and I’m thankful for it.

I’m grateful for the time spent with my kids, my husband, and my parents. We watched It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf, and The Christmas Chronicles 1 and 2… I hope they make a third!

All in all, it was a great holiday! Now, we’re preparing to hit the road… the long, long road home. It’s a super long drive, and I’m not exactly looking forward to it, but I am looking forward to being home!

Once we’re back, it’s all about Christmas time! I’m so thankful to have a home to return to—and even more thankful that it’s in Texas, the best state ever! I’m beyond grateful to celebrate Christmas in our own home this year… NOT MOVING! I can’t wait to decorate our tree and fill our home with cozy Christmas magic.

And then… the baking begins! YAY! I can’t wait to bake cookies and breads (ones I can actually eat) 🍪🍰🥧🥂. Along with all the celebrations, parades, gatherings, delicious treats, craft malls, and fun games… just being HOME. So thankful for it!

Thankful to celebrate God—the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ!

This morning, a close blogger friend sent me a beautiful email with a sweet Bible verse:

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭100:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Such a gentle and beautiful reminder for us all—to give praise to the One who has blessed us.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Keep sharing your blessings and gratitude with those around you. Acknowledge the good things, the gifts. Even on the hard days, practicing gratitude shifts your perspective—it transforms your mind, the powerhouse of your world.

You are what you think… you are.

xoxo 🤍
