Intro:
I first shared this post back in 2024, right before the election. At the time, things felt uncertain, heavy, and for many—hopeless. Now, as I revisit it, I think people feel a little more hopeful… but the struggle? It’s still very real.Making ends meet hasn’t magically gotten easier. People are still doing everything they can to protect their families, raise their children, and carve out a life that feels like their own. Whether that looks like a house in the country, a fast-paced city life, something small and simple, or something big and bright—it should be your choice. Not something forced on you. Not something dictated by outsiders who have no idea what life actually feels like on the ground.
You want to eat well? Great. Want to splurge once in a while? Do it. Just be real about it. Don’t lie to yourself or to others. And definitely don’t force your version of “right” on someone else.
Yes, the world is changing—but we’re still facing a lot of the same struggles. This is where prayer comes in. This is where we align our souls with something real.
For me, that’s Jesus.
Where is He?
Because wherever He is… that’s where I want to be.Skelly-
Break Free” | How do you budget for freedom?
Do you ever feel like there’s no end in sight to this madness?
We’ve moved beyond the rat race. Once, we chased our own tails trying to stay ahead—that was bad enough. Now, as everyday people, we’re not even the ones running anymore—we’re being chased.
We don’t ask for much. We want to raise our families with love. Be safe in our homes. Be left alone to live simply. And yet, even that feels like a stretch.
The question was: How do you budget your way into freedom from taxation?
I haven’t quite figured that out yet. Maybe we’re not supposed to.
But here’s what I have figured out—at least a little:
My Freedom Budget:
1. Spiritual Budgeting:
Remember who the true King is. God reigns over everything and everyone.
2. Gratitude & Silver Linings:
Stay faithful. Train yourself to see the good, even in hard moments.
3. Simplicity:
I don’t need nearly as much as I thought. Live with less. Prioritize needs over wants.
4. Natural Living:
Eat simpler. Live cleaner. Get back to the basics. (Honestly, this deserves its own post!)
5. Strategic Placement:
Use my gifts wisely. Stop giving them to the wrong people. Trust that God will multiply them in the right spaces.
6. Guidance:
Spend time with God. Let Him lead.
7. Intimate Circles:
Keep my circle small. Quality over quantity.
Breaking free is a journey—and this is what’s guiding me through it.
Take heart,
—SK 🤍
