Introduction:

This post was originally written in 2024—almost exactly one year ago. I can’t even remember what I was going through at the time that moved me to write it, but I know this: God was working through me then, just as He is now. Sometimes I sit down to write and find myself processing, praying, and figuring it out one word at a time—trusting Him to guide my steps through this weird and wild life.

The truth is, maybe I’m not supposed to understand it all. The more I uncover, the more I realize I didn’t need to know in the first place. But this post? It’s devotional. It’s simple. It’s good for the soul.

We need that sometimes—something that reminds us that life will always have hardships and hang-ups. But in the middle of it all, we can return to what’s simple and steady: Jesus. Read the Word. Pray. Be still. It really is that simple.

Matthew 6:26

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

More than the birds…

This verse is a beautiful reminder of God’s intimate care. If He faithfully provides for the birds—creatures who make no plans, store no goods, and live moment by moment—how much more will He care for us, His children? It’s a promise that speaks directly to our worth in His eyes. No matter what we’re going through, we can rest in the truth that our needs are never overlooked. The Father’s love is constant, and His provision is certain. We are seen, valued, and faithfully cared for.

This verse is a beautiful reminder of God’s intimate care. If He provides so faithfully for the birds—creatures that neither plan ahead, store food, nor worry about tomorrow—how much more will He care for us, His beloved children? It’s a promise that speaks directly to our worth in His eyes. Whatever we’re walking through, we can rest in the truth that our needs are never overlooked. The Father’s love is unshakable, and His provision is sure. We are seen. We are valued. And we are faithfully cared for.

The world spins so fast around us, it’s easy to lose sight of who we truly are. Have we forgotten the very purpose of our existence?

What we truly need is Jesus. We need a reset—a realignment of our priorities. A moment to breathe, to pause, to reflect. It’s time to remember who we are and return to our roots, grounded in Him.

The Great Reset

The brokenhearted are all around us. You might be one of them. I’ve been counted among them more than once myself. The real question is—where do you go when you’re hurting?

And what about when the sun is shining, and blessings pour in—do you still cry out to Jesus? Sometimes, the greatest test comes not in pain, but in silence. When the prayers are raw and desperate, but heaven seems still. When you’re stuck in the hallway, and God simply says, “Wait.”
Do you still trust Him then?

Do you have the kind of faith that holds on tight, even when the silence roars louder than any storm? In those lonely, unclear moments, will you keep waiting on Him?

When you truly know Jesus, I mean deeply KNOW Him, you are relationship with Him, it’s akin to your bond with your closest friend. You converse with Him daily, sharing every aspect of your life, revealing all your secrets. You trust Him implicitly. Yet, Jesus is even closer because His love for you never shakes, remaining constant today and forever.

In fact, His love for you is so immense that He promises to fulfill all your needs, even the significant ones. The catch is you might need to agree with Him on what those significant needs truly are. That’s where faith and trust come in. Do you possess the kind of faith?

But then I consider the birds. How He diligently tends to their needs, even during the fiercest storms. His love for me surpasses even that. I am His daughter, and there’s nothing He wouldn’t do for me. I hold firm to this belief and gets me through some of the darkness of times.

And you? What do you believe?

Now, as I lift my eyes to the sky and watch the birds effortlessly glide across the wide, blue Texas sky, I’m reminded of their freedom—their carefree nature. In that moment, I chose to join them. I release my worries and fix my gaze on things above.

Colossians 3:2

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”

Be encouraged today. Before your feet even touch the floor each morning, ask God to lead your steps, guard your thoughts, and cover you with His protection and guidance. Be the light wherever you are placed. And remember—this world is not your home. You’re just passing through.
