Author’s Note (Originally Written May 2022):
This short story comes from a writing class I took back in 2022. The assignment was to write a personality description—something punchy, dark, and focused on a trait that’s difficult to be around. I could’ve gone with something gooey and overly sweet, but where’s the fun in that? Instead, The Story of Greta was born. Sharing it again now—hope you enjoy the read!

The Story of Greta
I once knew an old woman named Greta. Small in her goals, insufficient in her thoughts—though she wore a mask of quiet charm, this was her secret truth. Not many knew the real Greta… until it was too late.
She was stingy with her life, make no mistake. But oh, how she thrived in the lives of others. That’s where she really got to work—meddling, poking, stirring the pot with her pestiferous little spoon.
Greta, dear Greta. A two-faced wonder if there ever was one. Consider this your warning: watch your back, your step, and every single word that escapes your lips. She’s a slippery one—master manipulator, professional victim, attention’s biggest fan.
Greta isn’t just dramatic—she’s an architect of the absurd. A master engineer of hoaxes, spinning tales so wild you’ll start doubting your own sanity.
You won’t see her coming—she’s far too subtle for that. No, she’ll woo you with her woes and spin you right into her twisted little fish story. And if you don’t play along? If you dare to question the script? Congratulations—you’ve just been cast as the villain in her latest rerun.
She spins confusion like a web, and darling, you’re the fly.
So beware of Greta—the empress of deception, the queen of contradictions, CEO of Trickery Tactics, Inc. If you’re lucky, you’ll get out early. If not… well, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Don’t fall for her crocodile tears or fabricated distress, or it’ll be you searching for a way out. But by then, it might be far too late.
How do you spot a Greta? How do you escape?
Here’s the sad truth: there may be no clean escape. But detection? That’s the easy part.
She’s always the victim. So helpless. So innocent. Nothing is ever her fault.
You’ll notice it quickly—the world, she claims, is out to get her and only her.
Everything’s someone else’s fault. The universe has wronged her, again and again.
And you’ll feel sorry for her. We all did.
You’ll wonder how one person could be so misunderstood, so mistreated, so… cursed.
But it’s all part of the trap.
It’s a web of sickness. Twisting tunnels and mazes of personalities. Narcissism wrapped in victimhood—so layered that even Greta might not know where the act ends and the truth begins.
She loves the mirror more than anyone.
And hates it just as much. Just as much as she hates you.
What a sad little kingdom Greta rules.
What a cold, lonely place she’s built.
Don’t live in Greta’s world.
Get. Out. While you can!
